ACWPC Women's All-Academic Award release
The Macalester Scots boasted the best grades among all women's collegiate water polo teams in 2009-10 and nine players have achieved national academic honors by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC). This is the third year in a row the Scots have ranked among the top five nationally in team grade point average.
Macalester's 3.52 GPA for the 2009-10 term tops Chapman (Calif.) (3.45), Harvard (3.43) and Wheaton (Ill.) (3.42) for best GPA in the nation.
In the “Outstanding” level (3.71 to 4.00 gpa) for the individual academic honors, the Scots are represented by
Sarah Ellerton ('10, Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy),
Brianna Besch ('13, Cairo, Egypt / Cairo American College) and
Ramona McCabe ('12, Santa Cruz, Calif. / San Lorenzo Valley).
Earning national honors in the “Superior” category (3.41 – 3.70) are
Catherine Flint ('12, Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn),
Hannah Strauss-Albee ('13, Plymouth, Minn. / Wayzata),
Rebecca Schultz ('13, Chicago, Ill. / Walter Payton Prep) and
Christina Getaz ('13, Winchester, Va. / John Handley).
In the “Excellent” category (3.20 – 3.40) on the academic honor roll are
Elizabeth Nelson ('13, Grand Rapids, Mich. / East Grand Rapids) and
Grace Fleming ('12, Northampton, Mass.)
