Macalester golf coach Martha Nause and other LPGA veterans are featured in a July 11 New York Times story by Karen Crouse as these players have drawn attention to the fact that the U.S. Golf Association (USGA) does not sponsor a U.S. Women's Senior Open. Nause, who played in last week's U.S. Women's Open at Oakmont near Pittsburgh, attempted to make the men's Senior Open in a local qualifying tournament in June, since that event is not restricted by gender.
