MIAC post-season honors
Macalester landed two players on the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) all-conference team, as selected by league coaches.
Pitching ace
James Murrey (Sr., Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) became Macalester's first four-time All-MIAC pick ever, and was joined on the all-conference team by second baseman
Mitch Glasser (So., Chicago, Ill. / The Latin School).
This is the first year on the MIAC All-Defensive team, which has one player at each position. Earning membership on the MIAC's All-Defensive team is third-baseman
Devin English (Sr., Annapolis, Md. / DeMatha).
Murrey led the league in strikeouts the past two seasons after finishing second as a freshman and sophomore, and is currently ranked third in the NCAA Division III in strikeouts per nine innings with 12.6. The Macalester ace and workhorse pitched in nine of the team's 20 MIAC games, going 5-4 with a 4.17 ERA, striking out 60 and walking only 13 in a league-leading. His 60 K's were 20 more than any other pitcher. In all games, Murrey was 9-4 with 110 strikeouts and a 2.99 ERA.
Glasser was reliable with the glove and for the second straight season finished among the MIAC batting leaders. He was sixth among hitters with 50 at-bats with a .418 average (28-for-67) in 20 conference games. Overall for the season, Glasser started all 40 games and hit .348 with six triples and 33 runs scored. He hit safely in 17 of 20 league games and went 11-for-20 over the season's final five MIAC games.
English once again played the hot corner as well as anyone at Macalester in recent memory. English had 25 assists in 16 conference games before going down with injury, and started three doubles plays.
Macalester's representative on the MIAC's All-Sportsmanship team is pitcher
Elliott Yodh (Jr., Merion, Pa. / Lower Merion).
Three Scots picked up Honorable Mention All-MIAC status: shortstop
Nate Wilson-Traisman (Sr., Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene), catcher / first baseman
Robert Williams (So., West Covina, Calif. / Northview) and right fielder
Bobby De Meulenaere (Jr., Elk Grove Village, Ill. / Elk Grove).
Wilson-Traisman, a four-year starting shortstop for the Scots, hit .362 in MIAC play with a league-leading nine doubles. On the season he batted .377 with 17 doubles, four home runs, a .600 slugging percentage and a .465 on-base percentage.
Williams was second in the MIAC with 22 RBI in conference play, batting .323 in the league. Overall, Williams led the Scots with a .389 batting average and 42 RBI (just six short of a school record).
Like Wilson-Traisman and Williams, as well as the previously mentioned Glasser and English. De Meulenaere was strong in the field and threw out five base-runners from right field. De Meulenaere hit .383 in 19 conference starts and boasted a .500 slugging percentage. Overall, he batted .330.
