Complete St. Catherine Invitational results

Jeff Yamashita (Jr., Honolulu, Hi. / Iolani School) won the 50-yard freestyle to lead the way for the Scots Saturday at the St. Catherine University Invitational. Yamashita was first out of 21 entrants with a time of 23.23. Macalester placed third out of four participating teams. St. Thomas won the team trophy, while Wisconsin-River Falls beat the Scots for runner-up honors.

In addition to taking the 50 free, Yamashita placed third in the 100 freestyle (50.48) and fourth in the 100 butterfly (56.37)

Ted Metz (Fy., Teaneck, N.J.) placed third in the 200 freestyle (2:04.09) and 1650-yard freestyle (19:04.41), and fourth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.47).

The Scots host the Macalester Invitational next Friday and Saturday (Jan. 29-30) at the Leonard Center's Riley Pool. Events begin Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m.
