Macalester vs. Wisconsin-Eau Claire statistics

Macalester suffered a 5-2 defeat Sunday at Wisconsin-Eau Claire as the Blugolds went out to a 3-1 halftime lead and were never threatened in the second half. Both teams are now 4-2-1 on the year.

After UWEC opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Macalester's Maddy Cochrane (Sr., Grand Marais, Minn. / Cook County) evened the score at 1-1 at 27:12 on an Emily Bardwell (Jr., Denver, Colo. / East) assist. However, Eau Claire went back on top less than a minute later and six minutes after that went up 3-1.

Macalester's second tally was produced by Matea Wasend (So., Denver, Colo. / George Washington) with 1:05 to play off a corner kick, with Maddie Mette (Sr, Burnsville, Minn.) collecting the assist. Wasend's goal was her first at Macalester.

Wisconsin-Eau Claire owned an 11-6 advantage in shots on goal and took seven corner kicks, compared to three for the Scots.

The Scots will attempt to shake off this defeat when they return to MIAC action to host St. Mary's on Tuesday (Sept. 22) at 7:30 p.m.
