ACWPC Women's All-Academic Award release
Six Macalester Scots have achieved national academic honors by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC), and as a team, the Scots achieved the nation's fifth-best collective grade point average (gpa). This is the second year in a row Macalester has been in the top five.
During the 2008-09 academic year, Macalester water polo team members combined to post a GPA of 3.28. That was topped by only four teams nationally: Chapman (3.42), Washington & Jefferson (3.36), Brown (3.35) and Colorado College (3.31).
In the “Outstanding” level (3.71 to 4.00 gpa), the Scots are represented by
Alex Cortes (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce).
Earning national honors in the “Superior” category (3.41 – 3.70) are
Catherine Anderson (Fy., Palo Alto, Calif. / Henry Gunn),
Bailey Gucinski (Fy., Chicago, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley) and
Melinda Vogel (So., Santa Barbara, Calif. / San Marcos).
In the “Excellent” category (3.20 – 3.40) on the academic honor roll is
Aubrey Harding (Jr., Salem, Ore. / South Salem) and
Sarah Ellerton (Jr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield).
