For the first time in recent memory Macalester College had an incoming freshman football recruit participate in the Minnesota High School All-Star football game.
Brandon Murphy, who played for the OutState team last Saturday night (June 27) at St. Cloud State's Husky Stadium, will be a freshman at Macalester this coming fall.
Murphy graduated this past spring from New London-Spicer High School and will play outside linebacker for the Scots. Brandon's brother
Collin Murphy has been a two-year starter on Macalester's offensive line, giving the Scots two sets of brothers, along with
Matt Elliott and
Jon Elliott from El Paso, Texas.
“We are very happy to add Brandon to our team,” said Macalester head coach
Tony Jennison. “He is a fine young man, who wants to challenge himself academically but also has that passion for football we are looking for. We are expecting him to contribute immediately this fall."
