Macalester closed out the track & field season by placing 12th at the MIAC championships Friday and Saturday at Carleton College in Northfield.

The team's top finish was turned in by Tara McCoy (So., Menomonie, Wis.), who placed fifth in the 800-meter run finals with a 2:20.20 clocking. She reached the finals with a 2:21.77 performance in Friday's preliminary round heat.

Emily Matthews (Jr., Ft. Collins, Colo.) made the 200-meter dash finals and placed eighth (26.91). Emma Swinford (Fy., Columbus, Ohio / Grandview Heights) made the 1500-meter run finals and had the 10th best time overall (5:00.74). In the high jump, Audrey Mills (Fy., Marine, Minn. / Forest Lake) finished 11th (4-9 ¾ / 1.47m).

St. Thomas claimed its fifth straight championship team trophy with 207 points to hold up runner-up Gustavus (173).
