Wade Ekstrom (Jr., La Crescent, Minn.) placed fourth in the 1500-meter run and an hour-and-a-half later ran to a seventh-place finish in the 5000 meters to lead the way for Macalester Saturday during the second day of competition at the MIAC men's track & field championships at Carleton College in Northfield. The Scots placed 10th in the team standings.
Ekstrom's 1500 time was 4:00.34 and he crossed the finish line in the 5K in 15:13.30.
Macalester's 4x100-meter team placed fifth (42.77). Relay team members were
Kevin Williams (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica),
Kyle Hamblett (So., Paris, France / American School of Paris),
Martin Stenman-Andersson (Jr., Uppsala, Sweden / IT Gymnasiet Uppsala) and
Andrew Yokom (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn. / Mounds View). Williams missed making the 100-meter dash finals by just 1/100 second.
Carl Biggers (Fy., Verona, Wis.) was eighth in the 10,000-meter run (32:29.32).
St. Thomas (182 team points) took the team trophy over St. John's (125), Hamline (113) and Bethel (102).
