Macalester senior Jordan Matheson (Vancouver, B.C. / The Nichols School – N.Y.) closed out her tremendous collegiate career by placing fourth at the NCAA Division III women's golf championships at PGA Village in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

After posting rounds of 79 and 82 during Wednesday's and Thursday's rounds on the difficult Wanamaker Course to stand in 20th place midway through the tournament, Matheson played one of her best rounds ever Friday, walking off the course with a tourney-best 73 to move up to seventh. On Saturday, she stepped up another three places to produce Macalester's best-ever national golf finish – shooting a 79 to close out with a 72-hole mark of 313.

This is the fourth time the Scots have produced a top-15 national finisher over the last seven years under head coach Martha Nause. The best Mac finish previously was Christy Schaaf's fifth-place performance in 2003. Matheson placed 13th at last year's NCAA's in Waverly, Ia.

Susan Martin of team champion Methodist (N.C.) won medalist honors with a +6 score of 294. Jessica Urban of UW-Stevens point was the individual runner-up with a 297. Matheson and Emily Bachert of Centre (Ky.) tied for fourth with 313 scores. The third-place player was Marisa Martin of Southwestern (Tex.) with a 311 – well behind the dominant efforts of Martin and Urban.

The par-72, 5831-yard Wanamaker course was challenging. The players finishing in the middle of the 111-player field were 46-over-par for four rounds. Matheson's fourth-place score was +25 and only 10 players were better than +30. Methodist held of UW-Stevens Point and MIAC rival Gustavus for the team championship.
