Complete Last Chance Meet results
Wade Ekstrom (Jr., La Crescent, Minn.) gave himself an excellent chance at making next week's NCAA Division III championships when he ran he ran to a school-record 3:50.98 time in the 1500 meters at the Wisconsin-La Crosse Last Chance Meet Thursday night. He easily made the provisional-qualifying 3:55.00 mark and came up just short of the automatic qualifying time of 3:50.60.
If he gets in, as is anticipated, Ekstrom will race in the 1500 at the May 21-23
NCAA Division III championships at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio.
Ekstrom is the Macalester Junior Male Athlete of the Year as well as the Junior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The old Macalester school mark in the 1500 was 3:54.36, established by David Augustson in 2006.
Andrew Yokom (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn. / Mounds View) closed out his Mac career with a fifth-place 55.53 mark in the 400-meter high hurdles. Macalester throws coach Bryan Tolcser, competing as an unattached athlete, dominated the hammer throw with a toss 215-10 (65.79m) – registering the 24th-best throw by an American athlete in 2009.
