Complete Carleton Relays results
Martin Stenman-Andersson (Jr., Uppsala, Sweden / IT-Gymnasiet Uppsala) won the long jump competition to lead the Scots at the Carleton Relays in Northfield. Macalester placed seventh out of 13 teams. Stenman-Andersson easily won his long jump flight with a leap of 20-11 ¾ (6.29 meters) and that mark stood up for the first-place following the finals.
Sprinters
Kyle Hamblett (So., Paris, France / American School of Paris) and
Kevin Williams (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica) were among the leaders in the 34-runner 100-meter dash. Hamblett placed sixth (11.21) and Williams was seventh (11.26).
Macalester cross country standout
Martin Mudry (Sr., University Heights, Ohio / University School) made his first track appearance of the year at Carleton and showed good form, placing third in the 5000 meters (15:54.48). Distance teammate
Carl Biggers (Fy., Verona, Wis.) was fifth in the 10K (33:36.02).
Wade Ekstrom (Jr., La Crescent, Minn.) finished fifth out of 29 in the 1500-meter run (4:06.09). In the 400-meter high hurdles,
Franz Meyer (Sr., Kirkwood, Mo.) was fourth (58.23) and
Palmer Fliss (So., Medway, Mass.) was fifth (58.88).
Ollie St. John (Fy., Washington, D.C. / Edmund Burke School) took sixth in the 3000-meter steeplechase (10:10.72).
Gustavus (163) edged Hamline (143 ½) for the team trophy. Bethel took third.
The Scots host the Macalester / Bolstorff Twilight Meet on Wednesday (April 22) starting at 5 p.m. During the meet, the college will honor the 1959 MIAC championship squad which is holding a 50-year celebration next week. That '59 team began a tradition which saw the Scots go on to win 11 consecutive MIAC championships.
