Nathan Young (So., Denver, Colo. / Littleton) reached the consolation finals after posting the 15th best time in the morning prelims, and moved up three positions in the evening to earn a 12th place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at the NCAA Division III swimming & diving championships in Minneapolis at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
Young turned in a 50.62 clocking in the prelims to move on and was fourth fastest in the consolation finals with a 50.51 clocking. He was one of three MIAC swimmers to finish in the top 12.
The conference runner-up in the two backstroke events, Young swims tomorrow in the 200-yard backstroke. Earlier in the week, he placed 41st out of 66 in the 50-yard freestyle (21.08). Young was 14th in both backstroke races at last year's national meet and now has three All-America honorable mention certificates.
