Big second inning gives SUNY-New Paltz win over Scots

In a game otherwise dominated by pitching, SUNY-New Paltz scored four second-inning runs and went on for a 5-0 win over Macalester at the Gene Cusic Classic in Ft. Myers, Florida. The Scots were held to four hits and fall to 3-5 on the season. They play later today against Salem State (Mass.).

Amanda Knopf (Fy., Boulder, Colo. / Boulder) came in to pitch in the second inning and kept New Paltz off the scoreboard through five innings of strong relief work.

New Paltz had six hits in the decisive second inning and improve to 3-0 on the season. Justin Scutaro went 3-for-3 to lead the way.

Macalester plays tomorrow against Albright (Pa.) and Illinois College.
