Macalester vs. Allegheny box score

Allegheny (Pa.) snapped Macalester's four-match win streak by getting past the Scots 5-4 in the first of six Mac Spring Break contests at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The Scots played to victories in four of the six singles matches, but suffered narrow defeats in the three doubles events. Mac is now 6-5 on the season, while the Gators are 2-0 on the spring campaign.

Two of the decisive doubles contests were close as Allegheny squeaked out 8-6 and 9-7 wins at first and second doubles, respectively.

Michael Coleman (So., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) improved to 7-4 on the year with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. At No. 3, Chris Fowler (Fy., Toronto, Ontario / Royal St. George's) worked hard for a 6-3, 7-6 decision. Fowler leads the team with nine singles victories in 11 tries.

At the bottom of the singles lineup, Macalester picked up wins from Ali Bandeali (Fy., Karachi, Pakistan / Karachi Grammar School) at No. 5 and Evan Elderbrock (Fy., Madison, Wis. / West) at No. 6. Bandeali improves to 8-1 on the season and Elderbrock is 7-2.

The Scots play tomorrow against St. Norbert (Wis.).
