Complete Bethel Open results
Macalester made the short trip to Arden Hills for the Bethel Open and had several standout performances in this non-scored event featuring athletes from Mac, Bethel, the University of Minnesota, Augsburg and Northwestern, as well as a few entrants from St. Olaf and Carleton.
Martin Stenman Andersson (Jr., Uppsala, Sweden / IT-Gymnasiet Uppsala) led the way for the Scots with his first-place finish in the 400-meter dash (52.69), winning by 1/100 of a second.
Andrew Yokom (Sr., Arden Hills, Minn. / Mounds View) placed third out of 25 entrants in the 200-meter dash (23.13) and also made the finals of the 34-runner 55-meter dash, where he placed fourth (6.65).
Third-place Macalester finishers in the middle distances were
Franz Meyer (Sr., Kirkwood, Mo.) in the 1000 meters (2:43.42) and
Wade Ekstrom (Jr., La Crescent, Minn.) in the 26-runner 1-mile run (4:21.53). Right behind Ekstrom in the mile, with a sixth-place finish (4:30.98), was
Ollie St. John (Fy., Washington, D.C. / Edmund Burke School).
Kevin Williams (Sr., Kingston, Jamaica) placed sixth in the 200 dash (23.75).
Wade Miller (Sr., Alden, Minn. / Alden-Conger) was eighth in the weight throw (41-4 ¼ / 12.60m).
The Scots travel to Northfield Saturday (Feb. 14) for Carleton's Meet of the Hearts.
