Complete Great Scot Invitational results

Jeff Yamashita (Jr., Honolulu, Hi. / Iolani School) and Nathan Young (Sr., Denver, Colo. / Littleton) led the way for Macalester Friday and Saturday at the Great Scot Invitational at the Leonard Center's Riley Pool. The Scots were going up against swimmers from Grinnell (Ia.), Carroll (Wis.), Hamline, and during Saturday's events, Carleton. Most of the events were held Saturday and the meet was not team-scored.

Yamashita earned a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (55.23) and added third-place swims in the 50 freestyle (22.58) and 100 free (49.87). He was third out of 32 entrants in the 100 free.

After placing fourth, just behind Yamashita, on Friday in the 50 freestyle (22.60), Young turned in a second-place finish Saturday in the 100-yard backstroke (54.77).

Ted Metz (Fy., Teaneck, N.J.) turned in a sixth-place performance in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.78).

The Scots are now off until a Jan. 9 dual meet at St. Olaf.
