Macalester claimed four first-place finishes in five swimming events to get the two-day Great Scot Invitational off to an excellent start Friday night at Riley Pool. The meet continues tomorrow morning at 10 a.m.
Grace Fleming (So., Northampton, Mass.) posted the first of two Mac individual first-place individual finishes when she won the 500-yard freestyle (5:29.07). Teammate
Karoline Hart (So., Rexford, N.Y. / Niskayuna) placed first in the 50 freestyle (25.89).
The Scots also won both relays against teams from Grinell, Hamline and Carroll (Wis.) (Carleton will join the swimming events tomorrow).
Winning the 200-yard freestyle relay to begin the meet were Hart,
Anna Gajewski (Sr., Wausau, Wis. / East),
Sarah Ellerton (Sr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy) and
Suzanne Oh (Fy., Waukesha, Wis.) with a 1:45.00 time. Taking the 400-yard medley relay to close out the evening were
Claire Eder (Jr., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township), Hart,
Clare Pillsbury (So., Baraboo, Wis.) and Gajewski with a 4:23.12 clocking.
