Gorecki, Juergens named to All-North Region team

The adidas / NSCAA Division III men's soccer All-North Region team

Macalester's Carson Gorecki (Sr., Mahtomedi, Minn.) and Nate Juergens (Jr., St. Paul, Minn. / Como Park) have been selected to the adidas / National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-North Region team. Gorecki, a forward, picked up first-team all-region honors and will go forward for All-America consideration. Juergens, a defender, earned second team honors.

These two led Macalester to a 13-8-1 record, a berth in the second round of the NCAA championship playoffs, a second-place 7-3 MIAC finish, and the MIAC playoff championship trophy.

The North Region consists of teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.

Gorecki is a two-team all-region selection after earning All-West honors as a sophomore. Gorecki scored five goals and assisted on three others, and netted four second half game-winning, tie-breaking during a five-game stretch early in the season. Gorecki is a three-time All-MIAC pick and finished his career No. 8 on the school's all-time list with 25 goals.

Juergens, a team tri-captain, is a two-time All-MIAC pick and leader of Macalester's sturdy defense, which yielded just 24 goals in 22 games while posting eight shutouts. The Scots allowed just 1.1 goals per game in conference play.
