Complete St. Kate's Invite results
Macalester took third at the four-team St. Kate's Invitational Saturday, led by seven second-place finishes.
Nathan Young (So., Denver, Colo. / Littleton) and
Jens Tameng (So., Portland, Ore. / Catlin Gabel) produced two runner-up finishes each and
Jeff Yamashita (So., Honolulu, Hi. / Iolani) added another individual second-place. The Scots were also runner-up to St. Thomas in a couple relays.
Young finished second in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.32) and 200 freestyle (1:51.31) and Yamashita took second in the 50 free (23.70). Tameng earned the second-best scores in 1-meter diving (178.45) and 3-meter diving (201.85). Yamashita was also third in the 100-yard butterfly (59.96).
Mac's 200-freestyle second-place finish (1:34.59) was produced by Young,
Paco Venneri (Fy., Los Alamos, N.M. / Los Alamos),
Seth McIntire (Sr., Seattle, Wash. / Garfield) and Yamashita. Taking second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:47.49) were Young, McIntire, Yamashita and Venneri).
The Scots host the two-day Macalester Invitational 2 Friday and Saturday (Jan. 30-31) at Riley Pool. Events begin Friday at 6 p.m. and Saturday's competition gets going at 10 a.m. This will be the final tune-up for the Feb. 19-21 MIAC championships.
