Ben Langworthy (So., Tucson, Ariz. / Tucson Magnet School) played his two best collegiate rounds and placed fifth out of 91 golfers at the Augsburg Fall Invitational in Hutchinson. Langworthy shot identical scores of 75 and 75 to finish with a 150, four strokes behind medalist Mason Swenson of Bethel. Langworthy's play lifted the Scots to a 10th place finish out of 17 teams.
Macalester turned in team scores of 312 and 331 for a 643 two-day total. The first round was played at Oakdale Golf Course and Sunday's competition was at the longer Crow River Golf Course. Sunday's scores were significantly higher for most all players.
Matt Arck (Sr., Manhattan, Kan.) and
Nick Santrach (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) followed Langworthy with 54th place scores of 163. Arck shot 78-85 and Santrach's scorecard read 81-82.
Daniel Kerwin (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo. / Yokohama International) and
Ryan Peters (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) tied for 71st with scores of 167.
Next up for the Scots is the St. John's Invitational next Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 13-14). They'll play Saturday at Greystone in Sauk Centre and Sunday at Blackberry Ridge in Sartell.
