Complete St. Olaf Invitational results
Four Scots placed in the top 20 over the weekend at the St. Olaf Invitational at The Summit Golf Course in Cannon Falls and all four had two-round scores of 161 or lower. Their performances in this 49-player field lifted Macalester to a fourth-place finish out of nine teams. St. John's got past St. Olaf for the team title, while the Scots were edged by just one stroke by Gustavus for third place.
Macalester turned in team scores of 318 on both Saturday and Sunday for a solid 636, and beat MIAC rivals Augsburg, St. Thomas and Carleton.
Daniel Kerwin (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo. / Yokohama International) placed eighth with a 157 on rounds of 80 and 77 to lead the way.
Nick Santrach (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) was right behind in 11th place, finishing his days with 80 and 78 scores for a 158. Right behind Kerwin and Santrach were
Ben Langworthy (So., Tucson, Ariz. / Tucson Magnet School) at 160 and
Ryan Peters (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) at 161. Langworthy finished 15th with back-to-back rounds of 160 and Peters placed 18th on rounds of 78 and 83.
The Scots play in the three-day Twin Cities Classic Saturday through Monday (Sept. 27-19) in Elk River (Elk River C.C.), Ramsey (The Links at Northfork) and White Bear Lake (White Bear Yacht Club).
