Complete ITA Midwest Region Tournament results
Macalester's women's tennis team played Friday and Saturday at the very-competitive ITA Midwest Regionals at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. It was a great weekend for the Scots.
The Macalester doubles tandem of
Stephanie Lee (Jr., Camarillo, Calif. / Oaks Christian) and
Angie Horner (Jr., Bismarck, N.D. / Century) went 18-2 during last spring's campaign as sophomores. They started out with a quick 8-0 win over a pair from North Central (Ill.) and then took an 8-4 win over a pair from Carthage (Wis.) before dropping an 8-6 match in the quarter-finals to Carleton.
Horner won a 7-5, 6-3 match over UW-Stout's Jodie Czech in the first round of the 64-player ITA singles bracket and in the second round cruised past Coe's Andrea Schupach 6-1, 6-2 before bowing out in the third round.
In the Gustavus Fall Invite singles draw (for players not playing in the ITA competition), Macalester received singles wins from
Keli Crescenti and
Becky Schneider (Sr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck).
