First meet at Riley Pool is a win for Macalester

Complete Macalester vs. Concordia-Moorhead results

Macalester earned first-place finishes in nine of the 13 events to claim a 125-117 MIAC dual meet win over Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday in the first-ever collegiate competition at Mac's new Riley Pool.

The Scots won both relays and picked up a pair of first-place swims apiece from Grace Fleming (Fy., Northampton, Mass.) and Karoline Hart (Fy., Rexford, N.Y. / Niskayuna). Fleming won the 1000-yard freestyle (11:28.88) and 500 freestyle (5:35.37), while Hart placed first in the 50 freestyle (25.51) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.85).

Clare Pillsbury (Fy., Baraboo, Wis.) took first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:04.63), Hilary Frey (Fy., Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy) won the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.01), and Alex Cortes (Sr., Berkeley, Calif. / Head-Royce) placed first in a close race in the 100 free (58.27).

Macalester won the 200-yard medley relay (1:58.04). Relay team members were Claire Eder (So., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township), Hart, Kiersten Yeazel (So., Shorewood, Wis.) and Anna Gajewski (Jr. Wausau, Wis. / East). The Scots also claimed the 400 freestyle relay (3:53.73) behind the efforts of Cortes, Angie Marvin (Sr., Warroad, Minn.), Pillsbury and Fleming.

Next up for the Scots is the St. Catherine Mini-Invitational next Friday (Nov. 14) at 6 p.m.
