Two-round results
With 36 holes down and 18 to play tomorrow morning, Macalester stands in eighth place out of 10 teams after the second day of competition at the MIAC championships at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. The Scots followed up Saturday's 323 with a 318 team score Sunday for a two-round 641 – a couple strokes behind Concordia for seventh place.
Nick Santrach (So., Coon Rapids, Minn.) matched his season-high with a 78 to take over the team leadership with a 36-hole 160 after firing an 82 in round one. Santrach moved up to 24th from 30th place in this 50-player field.
Macalester's next three players aren't far behind Santrach.
Ben Langworthy (So., Tucson, Ariz. / Tucson Magnet School) is in 29th with a 162 (79-83),
Matt Arck (Sr., Manhattan, Kan.) is 34th with a 163 (82-81) and
Ryan Peters (Jr., Kohler, Wis.) stands in 35th with a 164 (88-76). Sunday's 76 by Peters is Mac's top round in the tournament.
Two-time defending NCAA Division III champion St. John's has a 595 team score and a big lead over Gustavus Adolphus (613) and Augsburg (617) for the MIAC team trophy. SJU's Joe Schoolmeesters – the '06 MIAC champion and '07 runner-up - owns a 144 score for a two-stroke lead for medalist honors. Ricky Copeland of Gustavus tallied a 71 to get to within a couple strokes of the lead with a 146.
