A former All-America swimmer at the University of California-Davis, Neill has spent time coaching at the age-group, high school and college level. Currently Neill coaches the Macalester Masters swim team in addition to her duties at Macalester. Her Davis High School team were the mytical national champions in 1993. In the summer of 2005, Neill made quite a splash on the international scene when she became the first swimmer in history to successfully cross the English Channel using only the backstroke. In 2003 she became the first Minnesotan and only the 37th woman from the United States to complete a solo crossing of the channel. This past summer, Neill set a record for a double crossing of the Catalina Channel in California.
