Complete Meet of the UnSaintly results
Martin Mudry (Jr., University Heights, Ohio / University School) and
Evan Mitchell (Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / South) won events and
Wade Eckstrom (So., La Crescent, Minn.) added a second-place finish as Macalester's final tune-up for the conference championships was a good one Sunday afternoon at Hamline's Meet of the UnSaintly.
The Scots went up against athletes from Hamline, Gustavus, Augsburg, St. John's, Concordia-St. Paul and the U of Minnesota.
Mudry placed first in the 5000-meter run (15:39.30) and Mitchell added another javelin first-place finish to his resume (192-5 / 58.64m), while Eckstrom placed second to a non-collegiate runner in the 1500 meters (4:01.88). All three will be serious challengers for high finishes at next weekend's MIAC meet and Mitchell will be going for his third javelin crown.
Franz Meyer (Jr., Kirkwood, Mo.) and
Kyle Braam (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.) contributed third-place efforts, Meyer in the 400 intermediate hurdles (58.14) and Braam was right behind Mudry in the 5K (16:08.93).
Mac sprinters did well, with
Kyle Hamblett (Fy., Paris, France / American School) placing fourth in the 200-meter dash with the fourth-best time in program history (22.43), and
Kevin Williams (Jr., Jamaica) placing third in the 100 dash (11.25).
In the 800 meters,
Will Kennedy (Sr., San Anselmo, Calif. / Branson School) placed fourth (1:56.04),
Josh Springer took sixth (1:57.02) and
Tyson Morgan (Jr., Lewiston, Me.) was seventh (1:58.27).
The MIAC championships are May 9-10 at Hamline.
