Tom Otteson was an MIAC standout at Macalester in golf, wrestling and football.
As a golfer, Otteson was a three-year team captain and two-time all-conference performer. As a junior and senior, he was MIAC runner-up, and he led Macalester to league championships three years in a row while winning medalist honors in five meets, and top-three finishes nine times.
In football, Otteson earned three letters and was named honorable mention All-MIAC. A three-year letter-winner in wrestling, he collected a second- and two third-place conference finishes.
Following his Macalester years, Otteson developed a long history of coaching, as well as professional and amateur sports participation. A scratch golfer, he has played in the state Senior Open, and he is believed to have the largest private golf memorabilia collection in the country.
He is a Macalester Heritage Society member.
