Stephen P. Hicks joins his brother George '48, to give Macalester its second set of siblings in the Athletic Hall of Fame. Hicks was a two year letterman in football and three-year letterman in basketball, but it was track and field where he excelled.

A key member of four conference championship teams, both before and after World War II, Hicks was a consistent medalist in the shot-put, discus and high hurdles. His Macalester high hurdle record, established in 1947, stood for nearly 30 years. Hicks also established the high hurdle record in 1946 at the Aberdeen Relays and set an MIAC discus record in 1948.

Hicks served as the vice-president of the Macalester student body in 1946-47. He has consistently been active and in attendance at Macalester College events as well as being a community leader in many activities in Pipestone, Minn.
