An M Club member, Leverne Tanglen earned eight letters at Macalester- four in football and four in baseball.
As a guard, he earned All-State honors in 1923 and 1924, and was considered by a rival coach to be the best lineman in the state in many years. Tanglen was also a catcher on the baseball team and captained the 1924 squad.
Following his graduation from Macalester, Tanglen served as a coach, teacher, principal and superintendent of Minnesota high schools until his retirement in 1966. He was honored by the college with the Macalester "Distinguished Citizen" award in l966.
Now a resident of Hopkins, Tanglen has been active in Macalester Alumni activities and has served as class agent for the Alumni Fund for many years.
