A member of the M Club, Chester Tobin earned three letters as an outfielder on the Scots baseball team. He was team captain on the 1920 squad.
Following his graduation, Tobin worked as YMCA Secretary in the Middle and Far East. He coached the first Turkish track and field team to compete at the Olympic Games in 1924. In 1927, he helped organize the World YMCA Games in Copenhagen, Denmark, and in 1932 served as honorary advisor to the first Chinese Olympic team.
Upon his return to the U.S., Tobin became associate to the President of Fisk University.
He is past president of the Macalester Alumni Association and received a Macalester "Useful Citizen" citation from the College in 1956. As a trustee, he was an important force in the construction of the fieldhouse.
Tobin has been a successful real estate developer and businessman in St. Paul, where he now lives.
