An M Club member, Bob Wasgatt was a four sport performer at Macalester, earning eleven letters -four in football, four in baseball, two in track and field, and one in basketball. His eleven letters were the most earned by anyone in his graduating class.
Despite an injury which sidelined him for most of his junior year, Wasgatt was elected by his teammates as captain of the 1924 football team. An outstanding quarterback prospect, Wasgatt led the Scots to a 33 -0 win over traditional rival Hamline.
Following his graduation from Macalester, Wasgatt coached high school teams for 40 years in Lisbon, North Dakota; Montevideo, Minnesota, and Oakland, California. He now lives in Oakland.
