The event featured 26 of the top small college men’s tennis programs in the region. St. Olaf took three singles matches in three very close sets and extinguished any Macalester MIAC post-season hopes by blanking the Scots 9-0 Friday at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis. After winning three of their past four matches, the Scots could not keep their momentum going as Bethel toppled Macalester 8-1 in Arden Hills. Macalester falls to 10-8 overall and drops to the .500 mark in MIAC play at 3-3. Macalester's lone win was produced by Titus Levy, who defeated his BU opponent at No. 6 singles 6-2, 4-6, 10-8 to put the Scots on the board. Playing their first match following a three-week break since returning from Spring Break, the Scots showed little rust in a decisive 8-1 victory at Hamline. Macalester rolled past St. Michael’s (Vt.) 8-1 at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, to close out its spring break trip with a 3-3 record. Two of the three’s three defeats were by just a single point. The Scots return to Minnesota with a 9-7 record on the season. Playing their second match of the day, Macalester took on Wooster (Ohio) in a close battle and came out on the short end of a 5-4 tally Wednesday at Hilton Head. With one day left on the team’s Spring Break trip, the Scots are now 8-7 on the season and 2-3 on the trip. The difference in the match was Wooster victories in two of the three doubles matches.
