Macalester ace James Murrey (Western Springs, Ill. / Lyons Township) is pitching this summer in the Prospect League as a member of the Danville Dans. Most of the league’s players come from the NCAA Division I level and the league has produced numerous major league players. Murrey, who will be a senior at Macalester next season, is a three-time All-MIAC and two-time All-Midwest region choice. Macalester College junior pitcher James Murrey has been selected as MIAC Pitcher of the Week for April 27 - May 3. The Macalester ace and two-time all-conference pick tossed a two-hit shutout Saturday (May 2) over Bethel in the first game of a Macalester doubleheader sweep over the Royals. Gustavus Adolphus dashed Macalester’s chances of making it to the four-team MIAC tourney by sweeping the Scots 11-3 and 8-6 in St. Peter. Nate Wilson-Traisman had two hits in each game and Robert Williams had three doubles on the day for Mac. The Scots are 17-19 overall and 8-10 in the MIAC and under any scenario, it will take at least 11 conference wins to make the playoffs.
