Men’s Tennis: Tyndel & Soghikian make All-MIAC squad

The 2013 MIAC men's tennis awards

Stephen Tyndel (Sr., Toronto, Ont. / City Academy) and Max Soghikian (Jr., Piedmont, Calif.) have played their way on to the All-Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's tennis squad.

Selection for All-MIAC singles and doubles honors is based on a formula which awards points for each MIAC win based on where in the lineup they took place.

Tyndel went 11-4 in duals overall, and 5-3 in MIAC matches, all at either No. 2 or No. 3 singles.  Soghikian finished with the team's best individual record (12-4) and the team's top MIAC mark at 6-3 (all at No. 4) and won his last nine matches of the season.

There were 12 seniors, five juniors and one sophomore on the upper-class-laden singles squad, and there were 13 seniors, three juniors, three sophomores and two freshmen on the doubles team.

As part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative, the MIAC announced the seventh annual All-MIAC Sportsmanship team for men's tennis. Members of the All-MIAC Sportsmanship team are selected by their coaches and teammates as individuals who demonstrate ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the field of competition.   Macalester's representative to the MIAC All-Sportsman team is Brian Utz (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Lourdes).
