Macalester vs. St. Mary's box score

Macalester picked up its first MIAC victory of the year by defeating visiting St. Mary's 6-3 at Hayden Courts.  The Scots won tie-breakers at first and second doubles, as well as fourth and sixth singles, to pull out the hard-fought victory.

The Scots are now 1-7 in the MIAC and 3-12 overall, while the Cardinals drop to 10-8 on the season, 2-6 in the league.

Doubles teams helped Mac get the match off to a good start.  Katelyn Glenna (So., Winona, Minn.) and Carmen Whitehead (Jr., Greeley, Colo. / West)  won a 9-8 (7-5) battle at first doubles, and at No. 2, Gabby Queenan (So., Bedford, Mass.) and Paige Schaefer (Sr., Madison, Wis. / East) also won a 9-8 (7-1) thriller.

Macalester clinched the match with singles wins from Schaefer at No. 1, Whitehead at No. 3, Queenan at No. 4. and Kayleigh Roach  (Jr., DeForest, Wis.) at No. 6.  Roach and Queenan took third set tie-breakers.

The Scots go right back to the courts tomorrow for an 11 a.m. home match with Concordia-Moorhead.
