Fresh off a victory over traditional regional and national power Loras (Ia.), Macalester's men's soccer team is ranked No. 7 in the first regular-season NCAA Division III national poll, as conducted by the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) and sponsored by Hendrickcars.com.

Coach Ian Barker's team is 3-0 on the season, having shut out St. Scholastica, Northwestern-Roseville and Loras.

The teams ranked ahead of Macalester are Calvin (Mich.), Hobart (N.Y.), Christopher Newport (Va.), Carnegie Mellon (Pa.), Williams (Mass.) and Johns Hopkins (Md.). Rounding out the top-ten are Whitworth (Wash.), Dominican (Ill.) and York (Pa.).
