Macalester boasted six of the top nine finishers to topple St. Olaf 23-34 in the Ole / Mac Time Trial at St. Olaf College in Northfield as the Scots got the 2009 women's cross country season off to a good start.

Mac's Erin Lowrey (Sr., Whitefish Bay, Wis.) and Tara McCoy (Jr., Menomonie, Wis.) were the first two runners across the tape. Lowrey completed the 4000-meter course in 16:05 and McCoy was right behind at 16:07.

Libby Tollefson (Jr., Billings, Mont.) placed fifth (16:21); Lena Sessions (Sr., Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) placed seventh (16:36); Kira Spencer (Jr., Iowa City, Ia. / West) was eighth (16:39) and Tess Carley(Fy,. Cumberland, Me. / Greely) finished in ninth place (16:40).

Next up for the Scots is the Sept. 19 St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield.
