Complete Les Duke Invitational results

Wade Ekstrom (Sr., La Crescent, Minn.) ran to a runner-up finish and teammate Carl Biggers (So., Verona, Wis.) placed 15th out of 214 competitors to lead Macalester to a sixth-place finish in the 14-team Les Duke Invitational in Grinnell, Ia.

Ekstrom's 25:48 time on the 8-kilometer course was well clear of the third-place finisher and was topped only by the 25:17 mark turned in by event champ Dan Greeno of Bethel.

Truman State (Mo.) recorded a team score of 49 to win the team title over host-Grinnell (87) and Coe (Ia.) (114).

Biggers crossed the finish line in 26:54 for his 15th place finish.

Ollie St. John (So., Washington, D.C. / Edmund Burke School) also had a big race and finished in 38th place (27:48).

The Scots race next Saturday (Sept. 19) at the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield.
