Macalester vs. St. Catherine box score
One day after Gustavus snapped Macalester's 10-match winning streak, the Scots returned to their winning ways by beating St. Catherine 6-3 in a contest which was moved indoors to Lakeville's Lifetime Fitness Club due to rain Sunday afternoon in St. Paul.
The Scots boost their record to 11-5 on the season and 5-3 in the MIAC to stay in the tight race for an MIAC playoff spot. The Wildcats are 5-10 overall, 0-7 in the MIAC. The Scots will close out their regular season with very challenging conference matches with St. Olaf and Carleton.
The match got off to a good start for the Scots, who took two of the three doubles matches.
Stephanie Lee (Jr., Camarillo, Calif. / Oaks Christian) and
Angie Horner (Jr., Bismarck, N.D. / Century) cruised to an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles and at third doubles,
Becky Schneider (Sr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck) and
Amanda Wenzel (Jr., Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) won 8-4.
Macalester's top four players in the singles lineup played to wins: Horner at No. 1, Lee at No.2, Wenzel at No. 3 and
Kelli Crescenti (Fy., Los Angeles, Calif. / Hart) at No. 4.
Mac plays its third MIAC match in as many days when it hosts St. Olaf Monday at Hayden Tennis Courts at 5 p.m.
