Macalester vs. Hamline statistics

Macalester and Hamline met on the gridiron for the 110th time on a warm and sunny November afternoon at Macalester Stadium, and it was the Pipers holding on to the “Paint Bucket” trophy with a 38-6 victory. The Scots close out the 2009 season with a 2-8 record, while Hamline advances to 4-5.

The Scots were solid in the second half and were led by tight end Matt Mitchell (Jr., Chippewa Falls, Wis.) with five pass receptions for 81 yards. He capped an 11-play, 64-yard drive with a 12-yard touchdown catch from Trevor Miehe (Jr., Holmen, Wis.) midway through the second half. Nash Traylor (Sr., Sonoma, Tex.) added 45 yards on a career-high seven catches.

Miehe concludes his junior campaign with 1,745 yards and 13 touchdowns passing and will enter his senior year with career totals of 4,118 yards yards and 31 touchdowns.

Josh Boomgaarden (Sr., Eden Prairie, Minn.) closed out the season with triple digits in tackles, making 13 stops to finish his senior campaign with a team-leading 102 tackles – twice as many as the next Scot. Matt Elliott (Jr., El Paso, Tex. / Andress) was in on 11 tackles and Zach Englert (Fy., Salt Lake City, Utah / Skyline) was credited with eight. Tyler Hill (Fy., Beaver Dam, Wis. / Wayland Academy) registered three tackles for loss of yardage.

Hamline was on top 28-0 at halftime and was led by wide receiver Tim Queck, who caught five passes for 197 yards and a couple touchdowns. The Pipers recorded five QB sacks. Quarterback Adam Meyers went 13-for-20 for 229 yards and Connor Sathre went 4-for-7 for 87 yards, while added 46 rushing yards.
