Macalester scored early and held off host St. Thomas in an MIAC semi-final match, and advances to play Carleton at home this coming weekend for the conference playoff championship and an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs. Carleton advanced past Concordia on a penalty kick shootout in Moorhead Tuesday.

Macalester and Carleton will play Saturday (Nov. 7) at 7:30 p.m. at Macalester Stadium.  Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for students.  Fan unable to attend can catch the action with a video and audio  webcast through the Macalester web.

Rosie Glenn-Finer (Fy., San Francisco, Calif. / Lick Wilmerding), who took over as the team’s starting goalkeeper on Oct. 24 when she shut out this same UST team in her first college start, registered eight saves on the day to post her fourth straight shutout and improve her record to a perfect 4-0.

Emily Bardwell (Jr., Denver, Colo. / East) scored her team-leading 14th goal of the season just 7:19 into the contest to account for the game’s only score. She becomes the first Scot to net 14 goals in a season since Annie Borton scored 20 in 2004. Lucy Miner (So., Seattle, Wash. / Ballard) picked up an assist with a long pass to Bardwell.

Macalester improves to 13-4-2 going into the conference title match with Carleton (10-5-4). St. Thomas finishes at 13-5-2.

The Tommies out-shot their guests 19-7, including 9-2 in shots on goal, and earned an 11-5 margin in corner kicks.
