MIAC post-season honors
Three Macalester standouts have been named to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) all-conference squad as selected by league coaches: defender
Maddie Mette (Sr., Burnsville, Minn.), midfielder
Maddy Cochrane (Sr., Grand Marais, Minn. / Cook County) and forward
Emily Bardwell (Jr., Denver, Colo. / East).
These three led Macalester to a third-place 7-3-1 conference mark and 13-5-2 overall record heading into this weekend's national playoffs.
Mette and Cochrane are four-year starters for the Scots and both have played in all 77 Macalester matches since the start of the '06 season. Cochrane scored three goals and led the team with five assists, and Mette added a goal and three assists, and led a veteran defense which allowed just 19 goals in 20 games.
Bardwell scored 14 of her team's 30 goals and became just the sixth player in the history of the program to net as many as 14 goals in a season. She ranked third in the MIAC with eight goals in 11 MIAC games.
Macalester's representative on the MIAC's All-Sportsmanship team is midfielder
Lauryn Gutierrez (Jr., Hickory, N.C. / St. Stephen's).
