Erin Lowrey (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) became Macalester's first four-time all-conference runner in over 20 years when she placed seventh overall, leading Macalester to an eighth-place finish at the MIAC championships at Como Park Golf Course.
Lowrey placed seventh with a 23:04.5 time on the 6-kilometer course, while teammate
Tara McCoy (Jr., Menomonie, Wis.) just missed all-conference honors by one position, placing 16 in this field of 229 runners with a mark of 23:47.4. Lowrey is Mac's first four-time All-MIAC harrier since former national champion Julia Kirtland (1983-86).
Libby Tollefson (Jr., Billings, Mont.) was Mac's No. 3 runner, placing 37th with a clocking of 24:28.0. Also breaking the 25-minute barrier was
Lena Sessions (Sr., Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene), who was 45th (24:48.6).
Emilie Schur (Sr., Pagosa Springs, Colo.) placed 6nd (25:12.5),
Kira Spencer (Jr., Iowa City, Ia. / West) finished 66th (25:15.2) and
Tess Carley (Fy., Cumberland, Me. / Greely) was 77th (25:37.8).
Carleton won the team title and Bethel's Marie Borner repeated as individual champ with a 21:43 time.
The Scots are off for two weeks and will send a seven-runner team to the NCAA Division Central Region championships Nov. 14 in Grinnell, Ia.
