Complete Macalester vs. UW-River Falls results
Macalester swam to nine first-place finishes in 16 events to defeat Wisconsin-River Falls 146-127 and begin the season on a good note Friday night at the Riley Pool.
Six different Scots earned first-place finishes, including a pair of wins each by
Claire Eder (Jr., Evanston, Ill. / Evanston Township) and
Karoline Hart (So., Rexford, N.Y. / Niskayuna). Eder won the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.33) and also took first in the 200 back (2:21.23). Hart, last year's MIAC champion in the 100 breaststroke, took first in the 200 breast (2:35.23), and also won the 50 freestyle (26:14).
Hillary Frey (So., Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy) placed first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:16.20);
Clare Pillsbury (So., Baraboo, Wis.) took the 100 butterfly (1:06.6);
Anna Gajewski (Sr., Wausau, Wis. / East) reached the wall first in the 100 free (58.37); and
Grace Fleming (So., Northampton, Mass.) was the winner of the 500 free (5:39.64).
Mac won the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.74) behind the swims of Eder, Hart, Pillsbury and Gajewski. Clocking in with the top time as an exhibition entry in the 400 freestyle relay (3:58.50) were the foursome of
Katie Havranek (Jr., Denver, Colo. / East),
Sarah Ellerton (Sr., Suffield, Conn. / Suffield Academy), Gajewski and Fleming.
The season's second meet is an MIAC double-dual next Saturday (Nov. 7) in Moorhead with Concordia and St. Thomas.
