SAAC sponsors Men’s Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday

On Saturday (Oct. 17), Macalester will be hosting Men's Cancer Awareness Day at both the football and men's soccer games. This event is hosted by Macalester's Student Athlete Advisory Council.

Both teams will be wearing blue jerseys in support of men's cancer. The soccer game will also be played with a blue soccer ball.

Please come to learn facts about men's cancer, win prizes and support the Scots. The football team takes on the University of Chicago at 1:00 p.m., and the soccer team takes on St. Olaf at 7:30 p.m.

Please wear Blue shirts in support of the fight against men's cancer!

Facts about testicular cancer:
• TC is the most common form of cancer for men between the ages of 15 and 35.
• Researchers found that being at least a weekly marijuana smoker increased a man's risk of testicular cancer by 70%.
• Testicular Cancer is one of the most curable forms of cancer.
• There are about 8,250 new cases of testicular cancer each year. A man's lifetime risk of getting testicular cancer is about 1 in 300.
• The American Cancer Society's most recent estimates for the United States:
• about 8,400 new cases of testicular cancer will be diagnosed during 2009.
• about 380 men will die of testicular cancer
