Macalester vs. St. Benedict box score

Macalester beat visiting St. Benedict 7-2 Saturday morning to wrap up its best regular-season in history and clinch the No. 3 or No. 2 seed in next weekend's MIAC playoffs in St. Peter. Unless league power Gustavus is upset three times in three upcoming matches, the Scots will be the third-seed team and will play an MIAC quarter-final match Friday (April 25) against the sixth-seeded team. Gustavus and St. Thomas have already clinched berths in the six-team tourney and will be the top-two seeded teams.

Mac singles winners were Angie Horner (So., Bismarck, N.D. / Century) at No. 1, Stephanie Lee (So., Camarillo, Calif. / Oaks Christian) at No. 2, Amanda Wenzel (So., Green Bay, Wis. / Southwest) at No. 3, Anna Peschel (Sr, St. Paul, Minn. / Central) at No. 4 and Jenna Harris (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio / Seven Hills) at No. 5.

Lee and Horner finished the regular-season with a 16-2 doubles record by winning again at No. 1, while Peschel and Becky Schneider (Jr., Larchmont, N.Y. / Mamaroneck) won at No. 2 to boost their doubles record to 11-4.
