Twenty-five Scots earn fall sport Academic All-MIAC recognition

Twenty-five Macalester fall sport student-athletes have earned Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Academic All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference office today. The MIAC recognized 302 student-athletes who represented the conference’s thirteen institutions. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale to qualify for MIAC Academic All-Conference recognition.

Macalester names Annie Glieber new volleyball coach

Macalester College has selected Annie Glieber as its new head volleyball coach, the St. Paul, Minnesota, school announced today. Glieber comes to Macalester from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where she served as head coach for the past five years. Glieber takes over the program from Stephanie Schleuder, who has retired from coaching following 12 years in charge of the Macalester program and 34 years as a collegiate head coach.

Stephanie Schleuder to retire from coaching

Following a distinguished 34-year collegiate head coaching career, Macalester volleyball coach Stephanie Schleuder is retiring from coaching. Macalester’s volleyball coach for the past 12 years, Schleuder retires with 702 career victories to rank among the all-time leaders in the college ranks. Schleuder began her head coaching career at Bemidji State University in 1972. She was head coach at the University of Alabama from 1974-81 and head coach at the University of Minnesota from 1982-94, and became the Macalester coach in 1998.

Scots hold award banquet; Godwin selected team MVP

Macalester’s volleyball team recently held its annual team dinner and named the following season award winners. Marie Godwin, a senior from Chaska, Minn., was voted the Most Valuable Player for the Scots. Marie played in all 74 sets for the Scots this season and finished with a team high 210 digs, surpassing the 1,000 career dig mark during the season. Marie was second in kills for the team, ending her career with 372.
