Indoor season continues at Bethel Open

Macalester’s second indoor meet of the winter season was a good one for the Scots, who turned in some strong performances at the Bethel Open in Arden Hills. After some fast sprints in the season-opener last week at UW-Stout, Emily Matthews continues her good start to the campaign. Matthews placed third out of 25 entrants in the 200-meter dash (26.91) and also took fourth in the 400 dash (60.65). Maddie Mette and Erin Lowrey earned third-place finishes.

Matthews leads Scots at Warren Bowlus Invitational

01.30 | Women's Track & Field

Emily Matthews placed second in the 55-meter dash finals and added another runner-up finish in the 200-meter dash to lead the way for Macalester at the season-opening Wisconsin-Stout Warren Bowlus Invitational. She was second in the 55 dash with a 7.45 clocking and was second out of 43 entrants in the 200 with a mark of 27.02.

Track & field teams package food for children in Bolivia and Haiti

On Wednesday, Jan.13, the Macalester men’s and women’s track & field teams helped out at Feed my Starving Children in Eagan, pre-packaging food to be sent to children ages 6-12. The Scots worked two sessions and a total of 25 athletes participated. Macalester tracksters made over 10,000 meals in the two sessions. The first shipment went to Bolivia and the second went to Haiti.

Assistant coach Bryan Tolcser ranked 27th in nation in hammer throw

01.19 | Men's Track & Field, Women's Track & Field

Macalester track & field throws coach Bryan Tolcser is currently ranked No. 27 in the U.S. in the indoor hammer throw with a mark of 215-10 (65.79 meters). Tolcser competed at the U.S. national outdoor championships last summer and in addition to tossing the hammer this winter, is also competing in the 35-pound weight throw. He was eighth in the 2009 national indoor meet in the 35-pound weight throw.
