Macalester women earn national team academic honors

The Macalester Scots have once again earned team academic honors by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). A total of 100 Division III programs made up the women’s 2009 All-Academic Teams and the Macalester women, under head coach Martin Peper, ranked 10th overall with a cumulative grade point average of 3.550.

Assistant coach Bryan Tolcser to throw at nationals

Macalester track & field throws coach Bryan Tolcser will be competing at the USA Outdoor National Track & Field Championships this Thursday through Sunday (June 25-28) in the hammer throw. This past winter, Tolscer competed in the 35-pound weight throw at the indoor nationals and placed seventh.

McCoy leads Scots at MIAC meet

Macalester closed out the track & field season by placing 12th at the MIAC championships Friday and Saturday at Carleton College in Northfield. The team’s top finish was turned in by Tara McCoy, who placed fifth in the 800-meter run finals with a 2:20.20 clocking. She reached the finals with a 2:21.77 performance in Friday’s preliminary round heat.

Macalester set for conference championships

Macalester travels to Northfield this Friday and Saturday (May 8-9) for the MIAC track & field championships at Carleton College. Friday’s events get started at 2 p.m. and competition heats up again Saturday at 1 p.m. Championship web site
