Macalester tops Cornell & Northwestern to start spring campaign

The Scots have high hopes for a successful season, which got underway Saturday at the Leonard Center with wins over Cornell (Ia.) and Northwestern-Roseville. Macalester topped Cornell 6-3 and swept Northwestern 9-0. Most of the matches with Cornell were close. The Scots have a long break before returning to the courts again as the team is off until beginning MIAC play Feb. 28 at St. Mary’s.

Tennis season begins Saturday

Macalester’s men’s and women’s tennis teams, both under the direction of head coach Jason Muhl, get the 2010 season going Saturday (Feb. 6) at the Leonard Center Field House. The men’s team looks to continue to move up after going 10-11 last year and opens with a pair of matches Saturday, taking on Cornell (Ia.) at 11 a.m. and Northwestern-Roseville at 5 p.m. Macalester’s women’s team, coming off an 11-7 campaign last spring, then begin their campaign against Northwestern at 8 p.m.

Scots compete at ITA Midwest Regionals

10.03 | Men's Tennis

Macalester sent five individuals and two doubles teams to the highly-competitive Wilson/ITA men’s Division III Midwest Region championships at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The event featured 26 of the top small college men’s tennis programs in the region. Max Edwards and Titus Levy won first round singles matches to lead the way for the Scots.

Annual alumni tennis event is Sept. 19

The annual Macalester alumni tennis event is set for Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009 at the Macalester College Hayden Tennis Courts at 3 p.m. The six previous alumni events were big successes and this is expected to once again be a popular event.
